Today we wrap up our series on peace with a few promises in the Bible. Let these words fill your cup today because what you and I believe is real. Peace is possible in any and every situation. Let’s start with second Corinthians chapter 13 verse 11.

When I was a child, my dad would wear Old Spice. I don’t think he’s worn it in years, but when I was growing up, if I smelled that cologne, I knew it meant that my dad was close by. The Bible says he himself, Christ himself, is our peace. Jesus is our peace. If you feel peace, it’s because he’s nearby.
Hi, I’m Erica, and this is a very special episode of the Bible for Busy People. Last time we got together, we met Mary and Martha, when the bottom had dropped out in their lives. Their brother Lazarus was dead, but then Jesus showed. And everything changed. He arrived late according to the sisters, but right on time, according to God. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead and raised the hopes of the crowds of all the people who witnessed that miracle; and he raised our hopes too.
Today, I want to share a story about another family who is given the gift of hope and peace in their greatest time of need. Thousands of years after Jesus showed up for Marian and Martha, my friend Deborah, was the bravest soul I ever knew. She was a wife, a mom, a sister, and a friend to all. She was my neighbor.
And for years, Deborah bravely fought cancer with her strong faith, her contagious sense of humor, and this relentless positivity. In Hebrew, Deborah’s name means Bee, like the honeybee. In the last few hours of her beautiful, meaningful life, she was slipping in and out of consciousness. At one point though, with her family gathered around her, she said some very powerful words.
Oh, there he is.
She slipped back to sleep and later when her eyes flickered a little bit, Deborah’s husband, Nick asked her, who? Who did you see? And in great clarity of spirit, Deborah answered,
The beekeeper.
I think that’s one of the most amazing stories I’ve ever heard. Deborah, the bee was not alone in her hour of need, and her family wasn’t alone in their hour of need.
They all needed peace, and Jesus showed up. The beekeeper, the good shepherd, the resurrection in the life, the Christ. He came and he will come in your hour of need, and in every other moment in between. I wanna wrap up our series on peace with a few promises in the Bible. Let these words fill your cup today because what you and I believe is real. Peace is possible in any and every situation. Let’s start with second Corinthians chapter 13 verse 11. The Apostle Paul writes,
Finally, brothers and sisters rejoice. Strive for full restoration. Encourage one another. Be of one mind. Live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.
Remember earlier in the series we talked about how peace is like a garden, and when we work in that garden, we will eat its fruit. Well, there’s our promise. Live in peace and the God of love and peace will be with you. Okay, we’re gonna move on to Matthew chapter five, verse nine. This is Jesus speaking.
Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God.
It doesn’t get much simpler than that if you are making peace. God says you are blessed. It’s beautiful. Finally, I love this one so much. Isaiah chapter 26, verses three and four.
You’ll keep in perfect peace, all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you. Trust in the Lord always for the Lord God is the Eternal Rock.
Yes, there’s a hymn. You know the one that talks about how God is the rock of ages. He is a safe place to stand, and he is our peace. I do have one more verse and I would like to pray it over you right now. This is Paul’s second letter to the Thessalonian. So Second Thessalonians chapter three, verse 16.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray this over my friend who’s listening right now. Now may the Lord of peace himself, give you his peace at all times, and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.
